"Just As I Am"
We as a family thank and praise God for the life and
ministry of Billy Graham. On 21st February 2018, at the age of 99
years Dr. Billy Graham entered in the glory. He is known as America’s Pastor
and the one of most influential preachers in our time. It is said that he has
preached live to 215 million people in more than 185 countries around the
world. He used various forms of media to
communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ which was available in his period.
Whenever I read his books and listen his sermons, I
felt that I knew him. His books have been food for my spiritual life. Whenever I
encountered the practical issues, I have received the direction and
encouragement by visiting his website in the column of Answers. Really he is a
man of God whose heart beats for sharing the Gospel.
Once Graham said, “Someday you will read or hear that
Billy Graham is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive
than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the
presence of God.” What an imperishable
and living hope!
Finally I would to say of him (although I am unworthy
to quote these lines) that when he preached, the world listen the Gospel of
Jesus Christ. The success of his ministry was not his oratory skill, but his
integrity. In other words, he lived what he preached; a Christ centred and
Christ exalted life. Billy was great not by who he was, but by who he served
faithfully with integrity.
Let me quote his final words posted on the column of
Answers – “I hope I will be remembered as someone who was faithful – faithful to
God, faithful to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and faithful to the calling God
gave me not only as an evangelist, but as a husband, father and friend. I’m
sure I’ve failed in many ways, but I take comfort in Christ’s promise of
forgiveness, and I take comfort also in God’s ability to take even our most
imperfect efforts and use them for HIS glory. By the time you read this, I will
be in heaven, and as I write this I’m looking forward with great anticipation
to the day when I will be in God’s presence forever. I convinced that heaven is
far more glorious than anything we can possibly imagine right now, and I look
forward not only to its wonder and peace, but also to the joy of being reunited
with those who have gone there before us, especially my dear wife, Ruth. The Bible
says, “Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face
to face” (1 Cor. 13:12). But I won’t be in heaven because I’ve preached to
large crowds or because I’ve tried to live a good life. I’ll be in heaven for
one reason: Many years ago I put my faith and trust in Jesus Christ, who died
on the cross to make our forgiveness possible and rose again from the dead to
give us eternal life. Do you know you will go to heaven when you die? You can,
by committing your life to Jesus Christ. “For God so loved the world that he
gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but
have eternal life” (John 3:16). Put your trust in Christ today.[1]
We love you Billy and praying for peace and comfort
for the family.
May the Lord Jesus Christ grant us strength to walk
the path on which Billy Graham walked with his Saviour with integrity before us!
