Good Friday: It is all about HIS love (John 19:28-30)

Image
Every year we organize prayer meeting in the churches at Good Friday. The crowds flood into the churches hoping the special blessings. The message is focused on the death of Christ is preached and exhort believers to have personal relationship with the One who died on the cross to deliver us from the wrath of God. But in reality, most of believers have failed to love God or express their gratitude towards to HIM for what HE has done for all of us. We all eager to testify about the story of how God saved us or how God supplied our needs or how God has healed. But on other side, we are failed to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ progressively (2 Peter 3:18). We don’t have time to spend in HIS presence being calm and still or meditating on HIS Word. Therefore unfortunately, the 21 st Century has been known as ‘Age of Superficial Christianity’. Today I just want to remind you that why Good Friday and why the cross? I want you to look back the day

Who is THIS Indeed who was Called Prophet Jesus from Nazareth? (Matthew 21:1-11)

(This sermon is delivered on Palm Sunday at Phulbari Sewa Mandali on 25th March, 2018) Jesus lived about thirty three-plus years on the earth – thirty years in obscurity and three-plus in public ministry. Now Jesus is going to end all HIS earthly ministry and earthly journey. Every step of Jesus towards Jerusalem sounds the song of salvation and climbs the steps of ladder of glory. Jesus was born, lived and even died in humble. HE never looked for to fulfill HIS own will rather HIS sole purpose was to live and to fulfill the very will of God.   In John 17:1, Jesus prayed this way: “… Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you.” Matthew also mentioned in Matthew 26:39 – “And going a little further he fell on his face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from ME; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.” It was the time of Passover and Jews from every corners of world had been flooded into this city. Serve One Another in Love (John 13:31-35)

(It is preached in morning devotion in Jatarkatia Baptist Church (IEM) at Dhemaji (Assam) during 2nd Field Convention on 21st March, 2018)   Jesus was with his disciples and they had dinner together on the upper room. Jesus knew that he would be arrested soon and condemned to death. HE also knew that Judas Iscariot would be betrayed; and Peter would be denied; and disciples would be scattered because of fear and doubts. Therefore Jesus would like to encourage them in fatherly love. HE didn’t express HIS agony or complaint about disciples’ weakness. Even he didn’t present a 360 degree appraisal feedback for the disciples for their performance improvement. He just spent time with them and exhort them to face the challenges in future.  Our circumstances are much different today, but the difficulties we face are similar. The country where we live is increasing the persecution and freedom to follow our faith is vanishing especially for Christians. Economy is goin

True happiness through Meekness (Matthew 5:5)

Jews had been waiting for Messiah for centuries. They expected that he would come with some kind of military power and would throw off the dominion of Rome. Messiah would establish a Jewish state and rule the world. Jesus Christ was born in the house of a poor carpenter and brought up in Nazareth village. He picked up humbles fishermen to be his disciples. He had neither kingdom nor military power. He preached of non-violence and forgiveness. Therefore the Jews could not believe Jesus Christ as their long-awaited Messiah. They could not recognize Jesus as the Messiah, because they had failed to understand the description of the Messiah as Isaiah predicted. Isaiah had prophesied of Messiah as the suffering servant of Lord (Isaiah 53). Apostle Paul writes, “… we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews …” (1 Cor. 1:23). To the Jews it was unthinkable that the Messiah would die on the cross as a transgressor.   Therefore the word of the cross was folly for them (1 Co

Prayer Request - 1

Her name is Mrs. Siralachi Rai and she is 70 years old. She is suffering with ailments related to kidney and liver. Doctors has lost the hope for her cure. On 12th March, her family called me to pray for her. We went to her house and prayed for her healing after reading the portion of scripture and sharing the Gospel. I request each one of you to take time to pray for her. If God would heal her, it would be a living testimony in our village and a big break through among people where people disrespect the name of Christ often saying it is a god of Englishmen and we have do nothing with him. Please pray for her and us as well. Every day we are going, reading scripture and praying for her. UPDATE FOR PRAYER REQUEST - 1  (Updated on 15th March, 2018 at 07:54 pm) Thank you so much for your prayers. We are sad to inform you that Mrs. Siralachi Rai died peacefully around 10 o'clock in morning today. Pray for the bereaved family who has heard the Gospel and Word of God, th
